Track and field competed in their first meet of the season last weekend, attending the Bison Classic hosted by Gallaudet University in Washington, DC. The Bison Classic featured multiple schools from the NJCAA like Montgomery and Prince George's as well as NCAA four-year universities like Bowie State and Howard University.

Cooper Neal put up an excellent performance pole vaulting, coming in second with a height of 3.74m and setting the school record. He also ran the 100 meter dash, clocking in at 12.51 seconds.

Theo Beyer raced in the 1500 meter with a time of 5:12 and the 5000 meter with a time of 19:05 placing sixth, setting a new school record for the 5000.

These results stood out to Head Coach Amanda Milewski, stating that "Although everyone contributed, two of our athletes scored—Cooper Neal for second place in the pole vault and Theo Beyer for sixth place in the 5,000 meter run—which, given the field, is outstanding for the first meet of their college careers."

Katarina Witham competed in the long jump, leaping 3.42m and setting a new Carroll record. Cameron Klein participated in two events, throwing 9.12m in the shot put and 26.9m in the discus throw. Both distances represent a new best for Carroll.

Milewski was very encouraged by the new standards being set, saying "As our athletes continue to train hard this month, I expect that records will continue to be reset and hopefully a few more from last year will be broken."

Cameron Selmer took part in the 800 and 1500 meter, where he ran 2:17 in the 800 and 4:58 in the 1500. Julia Bassett ran the 100 meter, posting a time of 15.96 seconds. Madi Harper took on the javelin throw, chucking the rod 16.38m. The full results for this event can be found here.

The Lynx will compete at Howard Community College in the Mid Atlantic JUCO Invitational on Saturday, April 15th. To stay up to date with all things Carroll athletics, follow us on InstagramFacebook, and Twitter @Carrolllynx!
