Track and field finished their season last Saturday competing in the Blue Jay Tune-Up at Elizabethtown College. Carroll and Prince George's were the only two Region 20 schools in attendance with the field consisting of at least 14 teams per gender.

Cooper Neal crushed the pole vault event, placing 1st out of seven participating vaulters with a jump of 4.10 meters. This is a new Carroll record and the first time a Lynx athlete has won an event this season.

Cameron Klein finally got the chance to throw in discus after the event getting rained out in the last two meets, placing 6th with a throw of 27.93 meters. She also threw in javelin, posting a distance of 25 meters and placing 7th. For her last event, Klein threw in shot put, finishing 10th with a 8.63 meter throw.

Theo Beyer ran in the 5,000 meter and set a new school record with his time of 18:51, finishing in 9th. Beyer also ran the 1,500, completing the race in 5:11 and placing 19th.

"The Lynx track and field team finished the season with some strong performances, including Cooper, Theo and Cameron scoring points and setting new school records," remarked Coach Amanda Milewski. "Our athletes have proven time and again this season that they can compete with some of the best NCAA teams in the area. Although we are still a very small team, the dedication and success of our athletes most certainly will help our program continue to grow."

Julia Bassett competed in the pole vault, vaulting 1.83 meters and finishing in 5th.

Cameron Selmer ran in the 1500 meter with teammate Beyer, finishing 14th with a time of 4:50.

Thrower Madi Harper threw javelin with teammate Klein, throwing a distance 14.37 to land in 17th place.

Katarina Witham sprinted in the 200 meter, finishing 12th with a time of 32.02 seconds.

Coach Justin Metzger contributes a lot of the Lynx success to their second-year athletes, stating "The talent, dedication and leadership of our sophomores—Madi Harper, Cooper Neal and Cameron Selmer—has helped create a strong foundation for future Carroll track and field teams. As members of a program still in its infancy, they have set the bar high for those Lynx track and field athletes who will follow in their footsteps. We will certainly miss all that they contributed to the team."
