- The Short Story: The Carroll Lynx hosted the #19 nationally ranked CCBC Essex Knights as they held them tied at halftime before falling off in the second half.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- CCBC Essex jumped out to the early lead as a steal led to a quick shot by the Knights to sneak into the net in the fourth minute of the game.
- The Lynx tied the game up in 28th minute as Haley Greenwade dodged through the entire Knights' defense to score on a powerful shot.
- Essex took the lead once again two minutes later as a corner kick was tapped around the box until it was finally hit in.
- Once it was Greenwade with the answer as she was fouled in the opposing teams' box then cooly slotted home the penalty kick at the end of the first half.
- Essex once again jumped ahead once again early in the second half as a 30 yard free kick found the back of the net.
- The same Knights player scored another long goal as her shot from over 30 yards went into the net to double the Essex lead. Two more Essex goals a couple minutes later added to the lead as part of a six goal second half to pull away.
