Amanda Milewski has been a cross country coach at Carroll since the program’s inception in 2019 and also coaches the track and field team, which just completed its second season.

Previously, she was the head coach of track and field at Liberty High School, where, during her seven-year tenure, she coached many county, region and state champions. A number of athletes from her teams went on to compete in college—in the NJCAA and in the NCAA at the club, Division I, II and III levels. In 2015, she was named Girls Outdoor Co-Coach of the Year by the Carroll County Times.

Milewski’s running career began in middle school and continued into high school (Elkins, W.Va.), where she competed on the boys’ varsity cross country team before a girls’ team was formed. She went on to compete in college at Franklin and Marshall (Lancaster, Pa.), where she became the first female to earn All-American honors in two different sports. She is a three-time All-American athlete in track and field, once in the 5,000-meter run and twice in the 10,000-meter run. Milewski also was an All-American cross-country athlete, helping lead her team to an NCAA Division III National Championship title. She was twice inducted into Franklin and Marshall’s Athletic Hall of Fame, first as an individual in 1996 and with the national championship team in 2001. She was named to the Middle Atlantic Conference Century Team for cross county in 2012.

Milewski has been a certified high school track and field and cross country official and a member of the Western Maryland Track Officials Association.

She earned a bachelor of arts degree in English from Franklin and Marshall and is a freelance writer/editor and communications consultant who lives in Eldersburg. She and her husband, Mark, have three sons.
