Prospective Athlete Information

Steps to Becoming a Carroll Lynx Athlete

  1. Fill out the Prospective Athlete Form.
    • Once you fill out a form, a coach will reach out with you to talk about the team and the recruitment process.
  1. Complete an admissions application to Carroll Community College
    • The application process is quick and easy, with no application fee. If you are interested in participating in one of our selective admissions honors programs, be sure to complete that application.
  2. Complete your athletic paperwork.
    • All athletes are required to have health insurance and have a current physical on file with our athletic trainer. To complete the paperwork, click here.
  1. Meet with an advisor to register for classes.
    • You can schedule a meeting with an advisor by calling 410-386-8430. All students have a dedicated advisor in their area or program of study. If you’re not sure what you’d like to study, you can also set up a meeting to talk with one of our career counselors. Make sure to talk with your coach about practice and game times so you can schedule classes around those times.
  1. Apply for financial aid and scholarships.
    • In order to receive financial aid at Carroll, you must complete your FAFSA. If you need assistance filling it out, you can contact our Financial Aid Office at 410-386-8437. There are also institutional scholarships that you can apply for through our Foundation Office. The scholarship process typically takes place in February and again in July. Scholarships are both merit and need based. Athletic scholarships are also available at the discretion of coaches.
  1. Pay your bill.
    • Students can access their bills by visiting the Lynx Student Portal. If you need assistance paying your bill or have questions about our payment plans, please contact our Financial Aid Office.
  1. Prepare for classes by setting up a meeting with our Athletic Advocate.
    • Athletes have a dedicated staff member who will set them up for success by reviewing syllabi and course expectations, going over study tips and strategies, as well as time management and planning skills to ensue that all assignments are completed on time while still managing practices and game schedules. Contact Lauren Padgett at lpadgett@carrollcc.edu to set up your appointment.
