O'Donnells Lead Lynx to 2-1 Victory Over Frederick
  • Final Score: Carroll Lynx 2  – Frederick Cougars 1
  • Records: Carroll 3-4-1  |  Frederick 1-5
  • Location: Westminster, MD – Carroll Community College
  • The Short Story: The Carroll Lynx saw huge contributions from the O'Donnell sisters as the Lynx won a second consecutive game at home.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • With starting goalkeeper Chloe Herpel injured, Brenna Murphy was deputized to play between the goal posts as her spectacular defense held the Frederick Cougars to limited shots throughout the game.
  • Emma O'Donnell nearly scored in the 23rd minute on a shot that went just high, but was able to intercept the ensuing goal kick as she found her sister Lana O'Donnell in the middle of the box for a brilliant strike into the top right corner of the net to give Carroll the early lead.
  • Lana O'Donnell would make it two for the game in the 52nd minute as she stole the ball away from the Cougars defense and powered a shot into the bottom left corner of the net
  • Haley Greenwade had a shot miraculously saved by the goalkeeper midway through the second half while O'Donnell nearly made it a hat trick with a shot off a Talula Castanzo corner kick that went just over the cross bar.
  • Frederick would score a consolation goal late in the second half thanks to a fortuitous bounce, but the Lynx held on to secure the victory.
