- Final Score: Carroll Lynx 4 – Patrick Henry College Statesmen 0
- Records: Carroll 4-6-1 | Patrick Henry 3-5
- Location: Purcelville, VA – Patrick Henry College
- The Short Story: The Carroll Lynx earned their first shutout in program history as they defeated four-year school Patrick Henry 4-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- On a playing surface of questionable quality, the Lynx were able to control possession for much of the game against the hometown Stateswomen.
- The Lynx took the lead in the 20th minute as Haley Greenwade played a nice through ball to Jordan Joseph who was able to slot in her first career collegiate goal.
- Carroll doubled up the lead five minutes later as Emma O'Donnell dodged through the defense and dribbled around the keeper to tap into an empty net.
- The Lynx kept up the pressure in the second half as Talula Castanzo scored directly off a corner kick midway through the second half, followed by Greenwade scoring on a long shot to make it four.
GAME NOTES
- The Lynx defensive line was phenomenal in the game, holding Patrick Henry to just four shots as Brenna Murphy made two saves in goal to earn the shutout.
- Greenwade is now up to 13 goals for the season, currently good for third in the region.
- Joseph and Castanzo both scoring their first goals of the season means that eight different Lynx players have now scored a goal this year.
- E. O'Donnell scored her second goal of the season and is now second on the team with seven points on the year.
UP NEXT
- The Lynx will finish out their regular season schedule as they host the Allegany College of Maryland on Tuesday, October 15 at 2 PM.
- The Trojans are currently 0-5-1 on the season and are sitting in ninth place in the region with an 0-3-1 record.
