2024 Golf Season Preview

2024 Golf Season Preview

Carroll Lynx Golf is gearing up for their second season of competition with new coach Lee Bopst.

Coach Bopst has been working hard over the offseason, recruiting six new players to field a team of nine. Bopst is very excited to coach this team, and expects big things in his first year, saying "I have had some preliminary conversations with the team and expressed that our team goal is to reach the sectional JUCO tournament that will be held in Bristol, TN this year. We will have to qualify in our region to do this, but I think we have enough good players to accomplish this."

With such big expectations, Coach Bopst has a plan to lead his team there, stating "I need to help the team with focus. Focus on what they need to do to shoot better scores and ultimately on what will help the team win matches. We have some talented players on the team and some of the players have the capability to "go low" as they say in golf. I need to help them do that during a match when it counts."

Assistant Coach Kyle Walker has also joined the staff, adding veteran leadership to support Bopst. Coach Walker comes to Carroll with over 20 years of high school coaching experience and is currently the head coach at Manchester Valley, where he has coached since 2016.

The 2024 schedule consists of four matches including the MD JUCO and Region 20 Championship starting April 9th. Their first match is at the College of Southern Maryland on March 21st. The entire schedule can be found here.
