Golf Season Finishes at Maryland National

Carroll competed in the MD JUCO and Region 20 Championship on Tuesday and Wednesday, finishing second in the MD JUCO and third in Region 20.

Formatting for the two day event went as follows:

  • Tuesday's round counts for both the MD JUCO Championship and Region 20 Championship
  • Wednesday's round counts ONLY for Region 20 Championship, to be combined with their score from round one

The weather was cloudy and 65 degrees in Middletown on Tuesday, great conditions for a championship match. Kamden Estes started day one on fire, finishing fourth overall shooting a career low 77. Jamison Gouge and Evan Appleby both shot 82, tying for eighth. Zach Taylor shot just one more stroke than Appleby and Gouge, placing him eleventh. As a team, Carroll was +40 on day one, which is six strokes ahead of third place Hagerstown.

Conference awards were given out after the match on Tuesday, with three Lynx making the All-Conference team. Kamden Estes was awarded a first team spot while fellow sophomores Zach Taylor and Evan Appleby made the second team. This is Appleby's second season making an All-Conference team, the only golfer in Carroll's short history to do so.

Wednesday concluded the Region 20 Championship, combining scores from Tuesday's match to determine placement. The weather was the same as the day before but with light showers sprinkled in. Jamison Gouge led the lynx on day two, posting a season low of 80 to finish seventh. Evan Appleby had another solid day, improving his day one to a 81 to finish eighth. Carroll shot +49 on day two, just nine more strokes than the day before.
