2024 Golf Season Recap

2024 Golf Season Recap

Golf completed its second season in the NJCAA, setting new standards for the program following their inaugural year.

First year head coach Lee Bopst had a great season, leading a group of seven golfers to top two finishes consistently. "We had a lot of growth throughout the season," said Bopst. "Everyone made steady progress each week and it showed in the match results. I am so proud of how everyone competed." Five of Carroll's seven golfers shot their best round at the Region 20 championship, a testament to the improvement the team saw throughout the year.

Sophomore's Evan Appleby, Zach Taylor, and Kamden Estes all made massive strides in year two. Appleby and Taylor were consistently shooting mid to low 80's while Estes' top performance in 2024 (77) was over ten strokes lower than his best in 2023 (92). All three were named All-Conference with Estes earning first team and Taylor and Appleby earning second team. When asked about his sophomore's, coach Bopst said "I was very lucky to inherit these 3 from last year. The team wont be the same without them, they will all be sorely missed."

The team's newcomers made a splash in their first campaign, most notable are Jacob Gouge and Jamison Gouge. Both led the Lynx in score for a match, Jacob at the Carroll Classic and Jamison at the Region 20 Championship. Chris Howery finished out his season strong, shooting a career low 87 in the team's last two last matches. The future is bright according to Bopst, stating "This group really excites me for next year, their potential is through the roof. The sky is the limit for all of our returners."
