The Lynx Finish the Season Strong

The Lynx Finish the Season Strong

The Carroll Lynx played their last game of the season on April 23rd, beating Millersville Club by a score of 16-2.

The Lynx came out hot in the first half, highlighted by a fantastic performance from AJ Johnson. Johnson led the Carroll offense in the first two quarters, recording a hat trick in the first and ending the half with five goals. Goals from Latif Yacoubou, Jake Kanther, Kia Cummings, Alex Hillis, and Sean O'Connell ended the half 11-1.

The scoring slowed in the second half, but the Lynx continued to impress. Yacoubou was involved in three of the half's five goals for the Lynx and ended the game with seven points off four goals and three assists. Hillis, O'Connell and Johnson added to their goal totals in the second half to end the game 16-2. The Lynx finished the game with six players recording at least two points.

While the offense had an impressive day, the defense also shined in the win. The Lynx defense only let up one goal per half on 12 total shots. Neptune Jean-Joseph stood out, picking up eight ground balls and recording an assist. Carroll dominated ground balls, beating Millersville 37-11.

Jim Long credits the defensive success to the offensive dominance, stating "The defense played well because the offense controlled the ball. We had little action on defense since the offense won the day. This game was a great end to our season."

The Lynx  finished 4-7 in their second season, improving off their zero-win season just a year ago. The team is proud of this major improvement, with Head Coach Brady Slater saying," The guys really learned a lot over the past season competing against some of the best JUCO talent in the country and it showed today. Collectively, we played a complete game today and had a great close to our season! We look forward to going out to some local high schools over the next few weeks to see if we can add more student athletes to our 2022-23 roster."
