Men's Lacrosse Falls in Season Opener

On Sat., Feb. 26, the men’s lacrosse team lost to Delaware Technical Community College by a score of 27-7.

Delaware Tech was runner-up in the 2021 Region 19 Championship and had four players earn All-Region honors, three of whom have returned to play this season.

Lynx players Latif Yacoubou and Kia Cummings scored in the first period, both from assists by Dahon Saunders. Delaware Tech scored eight goals and the first period ended with a score of 8-2.

In the second period, the Lynx scored four goals—Cummings from a Yacoubou assist, Yacoubou unassisted, Alex Hillis from a Colin Adams assist and Hillis unassisted. Then, Delaware Tech scored 10 goals to end the second period leading 18-6.

The third period saw nine goals from Delaware Tech and the fourth period was capped off with a Lynx goal from Cummings, assisted by AJ Johnson.

Goalie Tyler Branner made 14 saves on 41 shots. The Lynx had 17 shots on goal.

Lynx lacrosse is back in action for their home opener on Sat., March 12 against Mercer County Community College. Game time is 1 p.m.
