Men's Lacrosse Attempts to Rebound

After a year without lacrosse at Carroll, Frank Valenza joined the program over the summer to attempt to bring the sport back into the spotlight.

Valenza’s lacrosse roots originate at UMBC, where he won a national championship as a player in 1980. When he left UMBC, he stayed connected to the game through coaching, which he has now done for over forty years. Most notably, he has coached at Long Reach High School in Howard county for the past eighteen years and is currently serving as a community liaison for Howard County lacrosse, which he had done the past five years.

When asked about the job at Carroll, Valenza was excited saying “I appreciate the Athletic Director Bill Kelvey and Carroll Community College for giving me the opportunity to be the Men's Head Lacrosse Coach.  I am excited to work with the student athletes to build this lacrosse program into something great.”

Lacrosse started at Carroll in 2020, playing in two club seasons and stopping operations before the 2023 season. Valenza’s goal is to field the first ever full NJCAA lacrosse team at Carroll.
