The Lynx men’s cross country team had a good showing in their first 8K race of the season at the Shannon Henretty Invitational hosted by Stevenson University on Saturday, Sept. 11.

Freshman Cameron Selmer finished in 17th place with a time of 33:40. Sophomore Cedric Lowe finished in 26th place with a time of 50:30.

The competition included NCAA Division I Mount St. Mary’s as well as St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Selmer and Lowe were the only NJCAA runners in the field.

“There’s always a period of adjustment when transitioning from 5K races in the beginning of the season to the longer races, 6K for the women and 8K for the men,” explained Coach Amanda Milewski. “Even though the transition came early in the season, Cameron and Cedric handled the longer distance well.”

Both the men’s and women’s teams will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 25 at the Hornet Harrier Invitational, hosted by Shenandoah University.
